The software is free.
You pay for the cloud.
Download the whole suite and run it with your own API keys or inside the AI tool you already use — no account, no card. A gald3r account adds the hosted half: cloud AI routing, sync, teams, and live coordination. Only that part is billed.

How it works
Free to start, self-serve to upgrade
There is no sales call in the way. Every account starts on Free and upgrades from inside the product.
1. Download and run
Install the signed CLI, Throne, gald3r_ide, or Longship. Use your own API keys or a local model. Nothing here needs an account.
2. Create a free account
Sign up on this site, verify your email, then gald3r login in a terminal or sign in inside Throne. Sync, gfix reports, and project agents light up.
3. Upgrade in-app
Run gald3r billing checkout or open Company Admin in Throne. Hosted Stripe Checkout, then the plan is active on every device you are signed in on.
Seats, not licenses
Corporate is per seat. Org admins buy seats, assign them to people, and move them around from Company Admin. Out of seats? The same page sends you to billing.
Add-ons stack
Valkyrie is billed per user × repo × machine on top of any paid plan, so a solo developer with two repos pays for exactly two.
Portal and cancel
gald3r billing portal (or the link in Company Admin) opens the Stripe customer portal for invoices, cards, and cancellation. Cancelling never touches your local files.
Free to use. Not open source. Yours to keep.
The plain-English posture. The repository LICENSE files are the source of truth.
Binaries are free
The CLI, Throne, gald3r_ide, and Longship are free to download and use, for individuals and companies alike.
Templates are Fair Source
The public templates repo (Gald3r-Labs/gald3r) ships under FSL-1.1-Apache. The engine source is not published.
Your data stays yours
File-first: task state, vault, and configs live in your repo. Cloud sync is opt-in and account-scoped.
Cloud is what you pay for
Hosted routing, sync, teams, and Valkyrie run on world_tree. Everything local keeps working if you stop paying.
This summary is not legal advice; the repository LICENSE is the source of truth.
Frequently asked
Is the software really free?
Yes. The gald3r CLI, Throne, gald3r_ide, and Longship are free to download and run on Windows, macOS, and Linux, with all 220 commands, 141 skills, and 13 agents. It is not open source: the public templates repo is Fair Source (FSL-1.1-Apache) and the engine ships as signed binaries. You pay only for cloud services through your account.
Do I need a gald3r account?
Not to use the software. Everything local — boards, the verification ladder, autopilot, the editors — works with your own API keys or through Claude Code, Cursor, and the other supported tools. An account is free and adds sign-in, gfix reports, sync, and the paid cloud features.
What exactly is billed?
Only what runs on world_tree, the hosted service: cloud AI routing and sync (Consumer, $10 per user per month), organizations with every provider and model (Corporate, $25 per seat per month), and the Valkyrie live-coordination add-on ($5 per user x repo x machine per month).
Can my team use it without paying?
Yes. Because .gald3r/ is committed with your repo, a team shares task state, constraints, and decisions through git for free, and file-based WPAC coordinates parent, child, and sibling repos with no backend. Corporate adds hosted teams, seats, Company Admin, and Mission Control; Valkyrie makes the coordination live.
What is the Throne desktop app?
gald3r_throne (codename Hlidskjalf) is the native desktop control plane: boards, a live workspace graph, chat with every project agent, a Council Room that convenes them all, Fleet and Mission Control views, Company Admin, and an IDE section where AI edits land as per-hunk diffs. v5.0.0-beta.51 is free to download, shipping in active public beta.
What are gald3r_ide, Longship, and Cartograph?
gald3r_ide is the standalone editor built on the same editor core as Throne — between Notepad++ and early VS Code by design, with AI edits you accept hunk by hunk. Longship is the full-screen terminal UI for agent sessions and the free swarm dashboard. Cartograph is the code knowledge graph behind gald3r graph: callers, blast radius, symbol search. All install alongside the CLI.
Which AI providers can I use?
On Free, any provider you hold a key for plus local models through Ollama, LM Studio, or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint — or simply run gald3r inside Claude Code or Cursor. Consumer routes local providers plus OpenAI through your account; Corporate opens the full registry, every provider and every model.
